of Lights at St Mary’s Centre. Each faith community contributes
a ten minute presentation.
13th February- A Bah ai wedding
is re-created at the Friends Meeting House.
Wednesday 14th March- Reading
Interfaith Group member Mervin Temple begins his journey for peace in
Africa
Wednesday 2nd May- A Buddhist
wedding is re-created at the Friends Meeting House.
Saturday 9th June- A “
number of teachers” propose a visit to the New Era Centre, Sutton
Courteney. The Reading Interfaith Group remains strongly focused on
education. Cherry Gould signs her correspondence as inspector/ advisor
for RE and collective worship.
11th June- Reading Interfaith Group decide to ask the Bishop of Reading
if he would like to be patron besides another community leader. Jim
Talbot stands down as chair.
Wednesday 13th June- Seder Night with Reading Hebrew Congregation.
24th June- Summer Picnic to Mortimer Fruit Farm
Saturday 15th July- Summer
Outing to Maidenhead Gurdwara and The Brahma Kumaris at Willesden Green
August- Membership is made open to "those of any religious affiliation
or none".
Tuesday 24th October- All faiths evening held to mark the annual United
Nations Day at the Friends Meeting House. Prayers, readings and "music
of peace" contributed by each faith community "in its own
way".
5th November- Bishop of
Reading The Rt Rev. John Bone agrees to be a patron.
Tuesday 27th November- visit to Hare Krishna Group
17th December- As part of a publicity leaflet Reading Interfaith Group
adopt a logo described as “ title enclosed in a circle made up
of infinity signs”(lines)
The Mayor declines to be a patron as he is already half way through
his term of office.
