Since the Reading Interfaith Group was started mainly by teachers to promote better practice in the teaching of Religious Education, many of our early letters were written on Berkshire headed notepaper. At times we even had the help of a secretary! This support and expertise from the County Education Department allowed us to be fairly adventurous in our planning.

2nd March- Reading Interfaith Group visit the Sikh Gurdwara in Cumberland Road.

27th September- Reading Interfaith Group visit the Mosque in Alexandra Rd.

Thursday 9th October- Venerable Sucitto, a Theravadan Buddhist monk talks to Reading Interfaith Group on his experience of the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta (the first discourse of the Buddha) at the Friends Meeting House.

28th June- Outing to Amaravati Buddhist Centre, Great Gaddesdon and Bhakti Vedenta Manor. (a house given by the former Beetle George Harrison to the Hari Krishna Movement).

13th September to 3rd October- Jewish Way of Life Exhibition.

18th November- Festival of Light at St Mary’s Centre.This is an evening of Indian music, the story of Diwali, Lighting of the Menorah, a Salvation Army celebration, and Christingle. This event also includes the First Earth Run and ends with the lighting of candles.
