Visit to Reading Hindu Temple

The Reading Interfaith Group visit to the Reading Hindu Temple will consider the theme ‘The Monotheism of Hinduism as Expressed through Images, Symbols and Ritual’. The speaker, Swami Ambikananda, will give a brief history of how Hinduism retained its faith in one God without sacrificing the many gods, and how this gave Hinduism its universal nature and its non-proselytising perspective.

Questions will be invited and after the talk visitors will be welcome to join in a typical Hindu ritual, ‘the waving of the light’ (arati), before enjoying refreshments.
